Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has revealed the first design sketches of its next new model. Known as RR4, the car is scheduled for launch in 2010 and sit alongside the Phantom model line-up. RR4 is smaller than Phantom and powered by a new, unique to Rolls-Royce.
The design was signed in 2007 and engineering development is now fully underway. The Goodwood manufacturing facilities are completely reconfigured to accommodate the RR4, with paint shops, wood and leather, and extended to a second assembly line. The company will move to one of two shifts next year, preparing for full production of this new model.
Chief Designer, Ian Cameron, said, "Effortless performance levels and standards of comfort and efficiency, executed with care and attention, remain fundamentals of Rolls-Royce RR4 design has a more informal presence than the models Phantom with a focus on driving .. Design-wise, this is expressed by its slightly smaller dimensions and more organic form, but with strong, proactive proportions. It is a true and uncompromising Rolls-Royce all directions. "
"RR4 will be a milestone in the history of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars," Chairman, Ian Robertson added. "The company continues to go from strength to strength and the introduction of this new model will expand the brand's appeal. We hope this new chapter with anticipation and confidence."
The design and technical details will be announced during 2009.
